‘The fifth edition of the procedure manual has the contents organized in six major nursing specialties as well as section-wise and system-wise arrangement of procedures as relevant to the subjects. The contents have been prepared as per the Indian Nursing Council (INC) syllabus of both undergraduate and postgraduate students of nursing. Special and related topics as legal, ethical and transcultural aspects of nursing practice have been added. The content of the whole book has been prepared keeping in mind the Indian context and community relevance. An easy-to-follow format with definition, purposes and procedure steps in sequence with rationales for nursing actions is followed for detailing every procedure. Most nursing procedures have been well illustrated with tables, diagrams and photographs as relevant for enhanced retention of contents and concepts. Most procedures are substantiated with special consideration points to emphasize important factors to be taken care of while performing procedures and educating patients and families. The whole text is presented in concise and easy-to-follow format with simplified explanation for the benefit of basic nursing students. Commonly performed diagnostic procedures are detailed with emphasis on patient preparation and care instructions for specific procedures.’
