She started her teaching career in 1990. She was the Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Govt Medical College, Trivandrum. Now she Heads the Reproductive Medicine Department and has been responsible for the birth of the first IVF baby in the public sector in South India. She has been the recipient of a Commonwealth Scholarship award for training in the UK. She has also been conferred FRCOG and FICOG. She is actively involved in many research projects and is a focal point for The WHO Reproductive Health Library. She has been a resource person for innumerable medical education programmes and has contributed chapters in many books and FOGSI publications.
